This means that you can add bone china mugs to your range for an investment of just £29.99 plus delivery & VAT, instead of having to invest around £60 + delivery and Vat.

Having a 3D vacuum press means that you can press onto items with uneven surfaces, including printing around edges and corners.

So while you can print onto iPhone cases for example, with a standard dye sublimation printing setup including a flat bed heat press – with a 3D press you can print the entire surface of the case, not only iPhone cases, but samsung and HTC cases, iPad cases – and other items with a polymer coating that can’t be fully printed with a heat transfer press.

We’re excited about this press just for the ability to be able to print 3D phone and tablet cases, but there are many other possibilities.

This is an industrial machine, comes in a large wooden crate (crowbar and elbow grease required) and you will need an electrician to wire it in. We will do some video soon so that you can see the 3D press in action.

The reason for this sale is that our customers who are using our blank iPhone cases are very impressed with them in comparison to other blank iPhone cases on the market, but being more expensive than some competing products, we want to ensure that our customers try our cases & see the difference for themselves.

At £3.30 they are more expensive than some of the competing cases, however when we chose these cases, we did so based on overall quality, not on price. Given that personalised iphone cases retail for up to £25 (more in some cases – although the average is around £10 – £15), and that there is not the same kind of competition on the high street and online than there is with other products, we see quality as the main issue with this product, not price – so we chose what we believe to be the best, even though it meant we could not sell them as competitively as some suppliers are selling their blank iPhone cases.

It’s clear from talking to customers however, that the price is preventing some of our customers from trying our cases, so we’re running a loss leader offer in order to ensure that our customers try our cases so they can decide whether they’re worth paying a bit more for.

We’re very happy with the choice we made, they’re a nice quality case (for the iphone 4 and 4s) with a ribbed grip on each side. They’re very easy to print, and the blank price we have managed to achieve makes for very good profit margins for our clients.

Those of us who have been printing using Epson D88, Epson 1290, Epson R1800 and so on, will appreciate just how quick the Ricoh GXe3300N prints.

We have a number of large format Epson printers, and we recently started to use the Ricoh A4 printer for dye sublimation printing for smaller items, including mugs, mouse mats, coasters, and the smaller jigsaw puzzles.

As well as the speed – the quality of the prints are very good, very vivid colours. The ink costs are higher for the dye sublimation ink cartridges, but there is a lot less ink wastage with the Ricoh printers, so it’s probably not hugely different all things considered. On average we’ve worked out that an A4 print cost between £0.50 – £1.10, depending on coverage etc. These are rough estimations though, it’s impossible to work out an exact costing. Printing on the small format Epsons is cheaper per print, but as we all know – general running of the Epson printers can waste quite a bit of ink, every time you have to do a head clean some of that lovely dye sub ink is wasted. The small format Ricoh printers are less wasteful, and so far we’ve never had to perform a head clean on our Ricoh printer, which is refreshing!
