Making the choice between clamshell, swing head & or a drawer operated heat pressses
The choice would usually be clamshell vs swing, however the drawer operation available with the Transmatic TS-74M and the Transmatic TS-2M 40 x 50 cm Heat Press presses, provides an alternative option.
Clamshell machines are usually the weapon of choice for garment printers, as speed is important when you have hundreds of tshirts to decorate on a daily basis, and clamshell presses are quicker to operate as it’s simply open & close. You wouldn’t notice much difference if you’re only pressing a few items per day, but if the press is in operation practically all day every day, even being a split second faster per garment would make a positive impact on production.
Auto open heat presses are a good choice for various reasons. If you do a lot of multi tasking, then auto open clamshell presses are a good idea, as it means that if you’ve legged it to answer the door or whatever the case may be, you’re not going to ruin the garment / product by leaving it under the heat for too long. Also if you are using a process which requires an exact dwell time, auto open presses are a good idea, plus for hot peel transfer processes where it is beneficial to be able to get in there straight away with two hands the second the time is up.
Drawer operated presses work by means of a drawer on the bottom platen, by which you slide the bottom platen under the heat, and then slide it out. As with a swing press, this means you’re free to work on the bottom table without the heat from the top platen bearing down on your hands, but it also means you don’t need to worry about having enough space to the side of the press to swing the head, and it means you can stick it in the corner of a room.
